Discover North Northumberland

Belford nestles on the edge of the Kyloe Hills, three miles from the Heritage Coast. Lindisfarne

It lies inland from historic Bamburgh and midway between the busy fishing port of Seahouses, and Holy Island (Lindisfarne), once the centre of Christianity and the home to St. Cuthbert and St. Aidan.

Within easy reach of magnificent stretches oDunstanburghf clean sandy beaches and numerous castles, including Bamburgh, Dustanburgh and Lindisfarne, the area has abundant wildlife; the nature reserves at Budle Bay and Fenham Flats are just a short distance from Belford, whilst bird and grey seal colonies on the Farne Islands can be seen on boat trips run from Seahouses.

 

Alnwick GardensAlnwick Castle and the Alnwick Gardens are only 15 miles to the south and are a popular day out for many visitors.

The Cheviot Hills to the west provide excellent Walking, with many pleasant and secluded picnic spots, easily reached by car on quiet country roads.

 

 

 

ChillinghamChillingham Castle, with its unique herd of wild white cattle, is also nearby. A drive through the Scottish Borders, studded with Stately Homes and Abbeys, can offer many a fascinating day out. Golf, angling, canoeing and horse riding facilities are available locally, whilst Belford's proximity to the A1 provides easy access to Edinburgh and Tyneside for those who wish to travel further afield.

Cycling on specially designed cycle routes is also very popular and many vistors bring their bicycles with them - facilities for safe storage can made available here on Bluebell Farm.
